What Is the Edinburgh Fringe?

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest arts festival and takes over the city of Edinburgh every August. For them month, the city is packed with comedy, theatre, music, improv, cabaret, magic and all kinds of weird and wonderful shows from performers all over the world.

One of the best things about the Edinburgh Fringe is that you can discover something completely unexpected. You might go to see a stand-up comedy show and end up finding an interactive comedy show, a late-night improv show or a hidden gem in a tiny venue that becomes your favourite show of the festival.

With thousands of shows happening across hundreds of venues, choosing what to see can be overwhelming, which is why many people plan their Fringe schedule in advance and also leave time to take chances on shows they discover while they’re there.

Why Interactive Shows Are So Popular at the Edinburgh Fringe

Interactive shows have become a big part of the Edinburgh Fringe because they offer something different from a traditional show where you just sit and watch. In interactive comedy shows, the audience are part of the experience if they choose to be, and that means every show is different.

Many Fringe audiences are looking for something memorable and fun to do with friends, and interactive shows are perfect for that. They are often high-energy, unpredictable and full of big laughs because the audience help shape what happens on stage.

If you’re visiting the Fringe with friends or looking for a fun night out, interactive shows and audience participation shows are always worth adding to your Fringe schedule.

Comedy, Magic & Interactive Shows at the Edinburgh Fringe

Many people visiting the Edinburgh Fringe look for comedy shows, magic shows, mind reading shows and interactive shows, and there is often a lot of crossover between these types of performances. If you enjoy magic, mentalism or mind reading shows, you will often also enjoy interactive comedy and comedy hypnosis shows because they involve the audience and create unpredictable, funny moments that are different every night.

Interactive shows and magic-style shows are popular at the Fringe because they feel more like an experience than a traditional show where you just sit and watch. If you’re looking for something fun, interactive and a bit different, these types of shows are always worth adding to your Fringe schedule.

An All-Ages Friendly Edinburgh Fringe Show

Funbelievable! 90s Rewind Hypnoshow is designed to be an all-ages friendly comedy show, meaning it’s suitable for a wide audience, from teenagers through to adults and families attending the Edinburgh Fringe together. While the show isn’t specifically a children’s show and volunteers must be adults to take part on stage, the content is designed to be fun, light-hearted and suitable for a broad audience.

This makes it a good option for families with older children, groups with mixed ages, and anyone looking for a comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe that isn’t overly adult or offensive. Many Fringe visitors are looking for shows that everyone in their group can enjoy, and all-ages friendly shows are always popular for that reason.
